Venus Direct 12th April 2025

Inanna Rises, and So Do We

“This is the way of things: the descent, the reckoning, the return. And none of us come back the same.”

Next weekend, Venus stations direct.

She’s been retrograde for 40 days, echoing the ancient myths where journeys to the underworld were not only expected, but necessary. And now, She pauses. She stands still. She begins to move forward again. But not as the Venus we knew before.

She is changed. And so are we.

The Descent of Inanna: The Oldest Story of Becoming

Long before Venus was a planet in the sky, She was Inanna, Queen of Heaven and Earth, in the ancient Sumerian myths.

When Inanna heard the call to descend into the underworld, Her sister’s realm, She prepared herself. At each of the seven gates, She was stripped of Her royal garments, Her power, Her status. Until She stood naked, defenceless, in the depths of the dark.

There, She died.

And then, in time, She rose again.

But not unchanged. Inanna’s return wasn’t triumphant in the way we’re used to. It was not a reclaiming of status, it was a claiming of truth. She came back knowing both the light and the dark. Knowing death, loss, surrender, and the fierce compassion that comes from facing it all.

Venus as Inanna: A Living Myth in the Sky

Every Venus retrograde is an echo of Inanna’s journey.

When Venus turns inward (retrograde), She leads us down. We revisit love, what we’ve given, what we’ve lost, what we’ve longed for. We walk through the aching gaps between what we hoped love would be and what it’s actually been.

This one has been no exception. Venus retrograde in Aries and Pisces has had us questioning who we are in relationship, not just with others, but with ourselves. What we value. What we desire. What we’re worthy of.

Now She turns direct. But before She walks forward again, She meets Saturn, God of endings, karma, and consequence.

This is no flippant reset. This is a line in the sand.

A reckoning.

A promise: never again will I abandon myself for the illusion of love.

This Is the Hero’s Journey

We are all walking a version of this path. Not to be perfect, but to be real. To return to the world with clearer eyes and a stronger heart.

Carl Jung called it individuation. The slow, brave process of becoming more and more ourselves. Stripping away what was inherited, expected, or performed. Claiming what’s true. Forging meaning from the mess.

Joseph Campbell called it the Hero’s Journey. The path that begins in the ordinary world, descends into trial and darkness, and finally returns home, bearing a new gift. But the real treasure is always who we’ve become.

That’s what Venus retrograde has been.

A descent into the heart.

A stripping away.

A remembering.

And now… a return.

But with Saturn involved, this is a karmic checkpoint. The ending of an old pattern. A final door closing. And perhaps, a new one opening, into a love that is built on truth, not fantasy. A life that fits the you who is rising now.

What Now?

Venus will stand still. She’s not rushing forward. Neither should you. Let the stillness speak. Let it show you what matters now. And what doesn’t.

Because you don’t come back from the underworld unchanged.

And that’s the point.

Reflection:

  • What did you see during this retrograde that you can’t unsee?

  • What have you let go of that you once thought you couldn’t live without?

  • Who are you now? And what are you ready to claim?

Venus turns direct in Pisces, conjunct Saturn. She’s hosting the Full Moon in Libra. She’s looking Mars in the eye. This isn’t just astrology. It’s initiation.

The kind that changes everything.

A note on AI & my writing:

I use ChatGPT as a writing assistant—not as a writer.
